kids' day out

we were kinda set on going to subic today but i changed my mind and decided to just spend some time with the kids, as today was like a special treat day at Star City for all kids who participated in McDonalds' summer workshop 2008.

because the event wasn't going to happen until about 2PM, mom, mela, the kids and i went to rockwell after lunch. kids went to the power station while ma and i hit the hardware and the grocery stores.

we took a bit longer than we had planned and it wasn't until around 4PM when the kids and I headed for Star City. I was in such a hurry as I didn't want to shortchange the kids on their fun time that i kinda beat the red light at the Ayala-Buendia intersection. oops. yes, on a sunday afternoon, Makati police flagged me down. I had to cajole with the officer to let me off the hook. he did so after a while, but not without my having to grease him a bit. this prompted my self-righteous niece, camyl, to say: "you bribed him, you bribed him!" haha. i know it wasn't right, but i had to shush her by explaining to her that i had no other choice. yea right. uhm, yes tub. lesson learned.

once inside the Star City, i felt so idiotic after realizing that i left my camera at home. groan. what a day, huh? i knew i had the camera in my bag (from the previous day) so I didn't bother to check! hmph! so sorry, no photos.

to make up for my booboo, i shelled out a hundred bucks just to have the kids' photos taken by the resident photographer while they were inside snow world. i didn't go as i've learned my lesson as far as these ice exhibits are concerned. apparently, the kids had fun sliding down an icy slope - something they didn't have in any of the ice shows i've visited before. well, that's good then.

despite the fact that we left the place a little past 9PM, we still didn't get to maximize the ride-all-you-can privilege as our time was eaten up by all the queueing. too bad. i guess the kids had a great time nevertheless, judging from their constant exclamation: 'this is the best day ever!' haha.

i planned on taking the kids to some restaurant inside BF, but seeing as it might have been too late for restaurants to still be open, tub and i decided on everybody's favorite: McDonalds'
